Relatives of stranded Gaza patients hold Egypt responsible for their lives

GAZA, (PIC)– Relatives of Gaza patients waiting to travel abroad for treatment held Egypt responsible for the lives of their loved ones calling on the Egyptian government to immediately open the Rafah crossing.

The committee of patients” families said in a statement on Thursday “we view with great concern the by the Egyptian security authorities” continued denial of entry of Gaza patients to Egypt to seek treatment,” adding that the Egyptian authorities has gone back on promises to open the Rafah crossing three days a week to allow patients to cross.

The committee added that the patients” only hope is for the Rafah crossing to be opened as their treatment in besieged Gaza hospitals is no longer possible.

The committee further said that it was not acceptable to talk about the closure of commercial crossings by the occupation, the enemy of the Palestinian people, while our brothers in Egypt, imposes a tight closure on the Strip.

The Egyptian authorities should take a brave decision and open the Rafah crossing instead of criticising the occupation forces for closing the commercial crossings, the statement said.

Finally, the statement warned that the death toll due to the siege has reached 230 patients and is expected to rise quickly if the Rafah crossing remains closed.
