Ministry of Interior Impedes El Shater’s Medical Examinations

Khayrat El-Shater (second deputy chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood who was sentenced to 7 years in jail in the latest controversial military tribunal case) was prevented from completing his medical examination last Tuesday. He suffers from dilated coronary artery and is in need for periodical medical checks and radiology.

El-Shater has repeatedly tried to do his medical checks, but the Ministry of Interior impedes the measures to the extent that an officer deliberately canceled his examination permit after he managed to obtain it from prison authorities.

El-Shater was given licence Monday to visit Al-Manial University Hospital for medical checks, but a police officer went to the radiology center and cancelled all measures before he received treatment.

Zahraa, eldest daughter of El-Shater, commented on this harassment, “My father has received unfair verdict, his property was confiscated,  and now he is denied medical examinations for the fourth time. There is no justification for these strict measures.”
