David Wildman, the executive secretary for human rights and racial justice in the United Methodist Church in New York, stated during a short visit to the Gaza Strip that he would be working on conveying the suffering of Gaza people to the civil society in the US and putting them in the picture of what is really going on.

During his short visit, he met with MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, who explained to him the daily humanitarian situation in Gaza under the Israeli siege.

MP Khudari underlined that the Israeli siege endangers the lives of one million and a half Palestinian citizens in the Strip and deprives them from living a decent life.

The lawmaker highlighted that the most serious impact of the siege is on the health sector, pointing out that more than 90 Palestinian patients in Gaza died and thousands others are being threatened with death as a result of the Israeli ban imposed on the entry of medicines and medical appliances, and on the travel for receiving medical treatment abroad.

In another context, the caretaker government in Gaza decided to form an ad hoc committee headed by Dr. Basim Naim, the health minister, to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian citizens living in the Gaza border areas which are vulnerable to Israeli attacks.

In a press statement received by the PIC, the media development office in the government stated that the support would be in all aspects of life including medical and financial support to help those areas withstand the fierce Israeli assaults.

The government called on the Arab and Islamic societies and institutions in solidarity with the Palestinian people to allocate part of its aid for those stricken areas in Gaza in order to be able to confront the Israeli schemes. It finally stated that the government would deal with those border towns as disaster areas, which are in constant need of assistance.
