Protest against Gaza Siege Receives EU Ministers in Brussels

Protesters demonstrated in front of the European Parliament and the European Union headquarters in the Belgian capital to express their rejection to the suffocating siege imposed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Gaza Strip. This protest was held as European Union”s foreign ministers have been holding their meeting in Brussels on Monday, Jan, 28th, 2008.


The demonstration was organized by “The European Campaign for Ending Gaza Siege”. The protesting rally, organized in front of the European Parliament, included hundreds of persons from across Europe.In addition to these delegations from across the continent, some members of the European Parliament took part in the sit-in. Piere Galo, a Belgian Senator gave a speech in which he lashed out at the IOF”s unfair practices against Palestinian civilians, labeling the siege imposed on Gaza Strip as a “war crime”.


The European Campaign for Ending Gaza Siege called for immediately lifting the siege and called for condemning it. It also warned against repercussions of this siege on Gaza residents. It also urged on European politicians to exercise pressures on the IOF to stop its aggressions and violations against civilians in Gaza.The demonstrators held Palestinian flags and banners reading “All of us are Gaza residents” and held signs in which they called for respecting the option of the Palestinian people.
