MB Has No Underground Organization: Al Erian

MB Has No Underground Organization, Welcomes Party Political Competition: Al Erian

Former SSP chief claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood has a secret organization, a false claim quickly refuted by the MB politburo.

Major General Fouad Allaam, ex-State Security Police chief, claimed in the seminar ” Illegitimate Political Powers “, held on Monday at the bishopric of Orthodox youth, that the Muslim Brotherhood group (MB) is a danger that threatens the Arab Region in general, and Egypt in particular, because of the group’s belief the concept and method of a secret organization.

In response to this claim, Dr. Essam El-Erian, the MB politburo chief, told Ikhwanweb that the group has no Secret Apparatus. He added that this secret apparatus was established by the group to carry out a specific task which was resisting occupation. After that, it was dismantled by the previous chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan Al Hudaibi. We are now preaching Islamic Da’wa (call) in public and we no longer have any underground organization.

Allaam warned, in the same seminar, of leaving the issue of democratization in Egypt under security control. He added that shouldering the security services with such responsibilities gave the regime a security nature which is currently rejected worldwide. He also considered this a crime against the country. However, he attributed the intervention of the security services to not having any active organization that can face extremist movements.

Dr. Al Erian commented on this, saying:” We respect this viewpoint specially from a figure who had a long experience in the security arena. Dr. Essam agrees with him, saying the battle is not between the security and the Muslim Brotherhood and that democracy is a joint responsibility between the Muslim Brotherhood and other parties while the security services mustn’t intervene in such matters as their intervention will be to the interest of democracy .

Dr. Essam El-Erian added that active political parties will emerge only in a political life which is free of any intervention from the security services that are currently stoking seditions inside parties. He hinted that most disagreements inside political parties are caused by the security services.
He saw that the security intervention in the political life ruins the political process.

Al Erian hoped that all parties can take part in a political life which is open to all and in which every one can work under the supremacy of law, leaving the final judgment to people.
